We’re Chris and Christine, siblings extraordinaire! No, we’re not twins, Chris came first, but mom still thought it would be cute to keep the twinkie name. (Insert Eye Roll Here)
We fight, we bicker, just like any brother and sister would, but one thing we have in common is the belief in being prepared and obviously enjoying good food!
So together, with our background and experience, we hope to utilize this platform to connect with others and share ideas with others!
A few tidbits about us:
Never would I have imagined that I’d end up working in the field of food and nutrition. I was actually on the path to pursue nursing school and had to take a prerequisite nutrition course. Just like most college students, I changed majors and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition instead! I further developed my food knowledge by attending a Culinary Arts College.
I have worked in multiple food industries from catering to hospital patient care, provided oversight of large volume multi-unit food service operations, and managed teams throughout the state of Texas. As a result, I have experienced the opportunities of empowering individuals and enhancing lives through the benefits of food and nutrition.
My greatest memories have been around a table, sharing, and connecting through a good meal. So this virtual platform is my way of sharing and developing foodie friendships from my kitchen to yours and hopefully create great memories for you as well!
At a young age, I was always hesitant to talk to others because of language barriers or fear of improper grammar. I eventually started expressing myself through art and people kept giving feedback. Eventually I learned to draw on computers, which lead me to web/graphic design. More and more people understood the messages I conveyed.
Now I speak the universal language that everyone knows and ironically help others communicate when they have trouble getting their message across. I guess you can say I can speak a thousand languages and don’t even have to use a single word. I communicate through design.
So what does that have to do with food? I find a similar art and language in food, in the sense that food also is a universal expression that breaks language barriers and brings a mutual understanding. Everyone knows a good meal through a good bite. No words needed, probably because our mouths are stuffed. So now that I’ve swallowed my food, allow me to introduce myself, my name is Chris, let’s talk.
